I have stored in the water form the past three years
and find it is preferable to "dirt beach".  I treat
the boat the same as if it was dry stored, do all the
same things. Also close all seacocks. I added fittings
above my seacocks for the heads so I can pump the pink
stuff through the entire system. I usually blow out my
pottable water system with air. I connect at the stern
where the dock water hooks up. After its blown out I
pump the pink stuff thru til it comes out at each
fawcett. Then I blow it out again and reuse the stuff
to do the heads. I do my engines through the strainers
after closing the sea cock. I made up a PVC 1 1/2 pipe
with a funnel on top to pour the anti freeze into the
top of the strainer. I drain the strainer of sea water
before I fill it with anti freeze. I also pump
straight anti freeze into the hose between the
strainer and the sea cock. This may be over kill but I
feel more comfortable with it winterized. I also had
to add a fitting to winterize the line between the 12V
fresh water pump and the tank. I bought it at West
Marine. It has a pick up hose you can Drop into a
gallon jug of the pink stuff. Actually you can do the
entire water system from this point a lot easier. I
would rather blow it out.  I keep two one hundred watt
light bulbs burning in the bilge and engine room. This
keeps the bilge warm near the pump and eliminates most
moisture in the engine room.

I am in Massachusetts and we get temps down to 10 on
some days. Most days its above freezing and if it is
over 32 and the sun is out I can be comfortable in the
salon in the afternoon without turning on the heat. I
use a kerosene heater as I winterize my reverse cycle
units. I do those the same as the engines and
generator, thru the strainer with my special pipe and
funnel. ( You need another person to start and shut
down engines and A/C units if you try this method. I
have seen special covers to put on straners for
winterizing, they have a fitting that takes a garden
hose size connection. Some day I may look into them
but for now I will stick to my current method. I use a
110 V pump that has a garden hose fitting to pump the
pink stuff so it would be an easy change.
