Two stories linked below reflect the intangible to most but tangible to some value of IMLA membership. The Supreme Court fortunately or unfortunately depending on the case seems to value consistency less these days and we believe that adding our voice to important cases that affect local government can help to protect local autonomy and the fiscal interests of local governments where Section 1983 liability arises. Our amicus program has been active in the Supreme Court, the federal circuits and in State Supreme Courts as we try to help shape compelling arguments advancing the interests of cities, counties and special districts.
