I have a 38' Trawler, single screw, 120 Lehman.  How often should the prop be
serviced (balanced/pitch).  No noticeable problems in the past 3 years.

Thanks

Well, Bob, I don't know about everyone else, but over the last few years
since I've had larger boats, I usually don't have to worry about the timing
on prop rebuilds. I run over enough stuff that my boats have an
"auto-alert"system on the props. When I hear a loud bump-bump & feel that
familiar vibration, I know it's time! :o)

In this vein, what experience do you folks out there have with prop-pullers
that are diver-friendly? I have used one on my last boat, (borrowed from the
marina" made by "Pro-Pull" that worked pretty well. I'm looking to buy a
puller that I can remove my props in the slip. Anyone have a puller that
they like that is easy to handle under water?

I would also like to know what kind of prop puller carries the TWL Seal of
Approval (G).  Please post to the list, or include me in responses
privately.

THANKS!

welding shop trhat will work on 3 or 4 blade wheels.

I've been happy with a Algonic prop puller for some time (
http://www.mindermanmarine.com/prop_puller.htm )
I,ve used it with SCUBA. works great if you remember to tie a line from it
to the shaft, this thing is heavy. One thing with it though, if you have 4
blade props, you may have to grind down the cross member to get in between
the blades.  another thing, be sure to leave one of the prop nuts on
loosely before you tighten the puller, if you don't, the will prop break
free with such force that the prop will be gone to the bottom before you
know what happened.  It's easy to use under water because, once you have it
adjusted to fit your props, you only have to loosen (and tighten) one of
the screws to work on the next prop.

(the usual, no connection with the manufacturer, justa happya propa
pullera)  ..jd
