Solomon Island, Solomon Yacht Center diesel $2.389.  Slow pump. Dockage
expensive, but great marina and  stop.
Treadnwater

Some friends and I are planning for a trip which includes some of the areas
listed on this list.
I thank those who detail where but would we also add what river system,  mile
marker and the date for the fuel purchase? I have no idea where Solomon
Yacht Center is. Yes, if I am planning then I should recognize the name but
sometimes information is reported before I get to that portion of my itinerary
planning.
Notice of the body of water and mile marker tells me in advance, "Hey,
that's the body of water I will be using. Will I be going that far?" then I can
look on the charts, in advance, to see if this can help me and if so note the
mile marker, area name and the marina described on my list so I won't over look
it.
Secondly, I must say I am surprised by some of the fuel prices  listed. I
don't think anyone would make up a price because we as cruisers are a  pretty
trustworthy lot. But some appear to be way, way, below what we are  paying at our
marinas on the Ohio river in Kentucky. For instance, the  particular price
listed shows $2.389 per gallon for diesel. We are presently  paying $3.89 per
gallon at mile marker 530 on the Ohio river on June 4, 2007.  That's about $1.49
difference. If this is accurate then WOW. Our trip will cost  much less than
we expected.

Thank you very much for listening.
I love this list and I'm looking forward to some feedback

Alan Hall and List,

Below is our entry about Solomons Islands from our article about
"Chesapeake Bay Ports of Call" on our website (address in sign off
below).

Actually, Calvert Marina in the Solomons normally has the lowest fuel
prices.

(13) **** Solomons Islands  (WS), (Lat. 38.19N--Lon. 76.27'W):
Patuxant R.  A NO MISS Port on the Western shore of the Chesapeake
Bay.  Plenty of good protected anchorage.  For least expensive fuel -
Calvert Marina.  Use Spring Cove marina for dockage because of their
many amenities and near by restaurants.  Provisioning at an
outstanding grocery store with excellent take out food and bakery
department. Nearby liquor store.  The town has a wonderful watermans
museum and many gift shops.

I thank those who detail where but would we also
add what river system,  mile marker and the date
for the fuel purchase?

This is the perfect job for ActiveCaptain (www.activecaptain.com).

You can search for a marina name, city/state, ICW mile marker (by 5), or
lat/lon.  It'll show you the marinas and anchorages in the area selected
over a map or satellite image and let you move the map around to see
surrounding areas.  I believe we have the largest database of marinas in the
world and I know we have the largest database of anchorages.  Markers
include user-written reviews and since there is no advertising, the reviews
are, well, real.  We're about to add a new huge database of
bridges/locks/dams and ferries crossings (including the Great Loop rivers)
as well as other markers that we're calling "Local Knowledge" - things like
known hazards, inlets, West Marine locations, etc.  The bridges database
alone has been worked on over the last 5 months.

It's at the very beginning - there is a lot planned for it.

The web site is completely free.  You just need to register to help us cut
down on spam attempts at inserting bad data.

It would also help if everyone would remember to add the State and if
not a river, what Bay (i.e. Chesapeake, Mobile) or Lake you are on
and the nearest City.

Particularly, when asking questions, please put your Email address in
your sign off copy, so those who would like to send you information
off-line without having to tell everyone on the list what they may
already know.

Finally, learn how to (SNIP) and remove superfluous information and
replies to replies which clog up this list.

The price right now in a good spot on the Chesapeake is around $2.35. Local
and state taxes make up a big part of it. Maybe Ohio charges the same taxes
as they do for cars - road tax.  The boating states perhaps have lobbies
that get a fair deal.  Look at the boat us site for info on taxes in various
states.  Skipper bob also shows the latest at date of publication of the
average state price and the variation of each marina fron that average.

As far as calling out locations

With all due respect - (that is what people say when they say something that
the listener would rather not hear.)
There are ways for the recipient to look up these names and places.
When I post a message about a place that is quite common - say Solomon's on
the Chesapeake, I am not going to stop and look up lat long or mile marker
or whatever.  Do some homework.

How many question asked here could be answered by a Google search ???
