Finally, it looks like spring is coming. People have been reporting
blackbirds and other spring migrants arriving  on the north shore of
Lakes Erie and Ontario.
I got home from work early today and immediately noticed  over 200
birds visiting my feeder and my neighbours bird feeder. ( I am a feeder
watch participant and birds for count period were not much more than 15.
The day before the count on friday a small flock of Blue Jays went
through the neighbourhood. All winter there was only one  blue jay
visiting the feeder on a spasmodic basis) There were birds everywhere
including several  grackles, many starlings and a Mockingbird. There
used to be a pair in the neighbourhood. There haven't been any
mockingbirds for at least 10 years. The mockingbird was skittish and
flew out of sight into a neighbour's yard.  Hopefully it stays in the
neighbourhood. Site was Esquire Place  near Garth and Mohawk in Hamilton
North of the Linc. Are mockingbird numbers up or down?
