From Al Pilvinis concerning GBs, "Isn't this the same reason

why your knees are in the galley,  because of the
narrow house, when you sit on that extremely uncomfortable
built in sofa
that has the straight up and down uncomfortable back with
the hard cushions
so you end up sitting on it sideways to give your back a
break?
How about all those thin varnished decorative strips that
are a devil to
strip and varnish around the out side of the cabin.
But if this is your thing enjoy it, its better than not
boating at all."

Gee, Al, did you end up in a half-scale GB?  Can't say the
42 is anything like this.  My knees are a good 7-8 feet away
from any galley area - in fact, the galley is well forward
of the fore-aft section of the settee.  Trim, i.e. "thin
varnished decorative strips" are actually quite easy to keep
up, once you know how, but most new GBs don't even have
them.  Settee cushions are cut to give back support, but
then again, people do change these things in their own
boats.

Rich, I believe the sofa is constructed the way it is to save room in the
narrow cabin because of the extra wide side decks. Have you been on a 42 or
44 SeaRay, same shaped sofa also uncomfortable.
