Good showing for Gulls this morning along the Guilford and Madison
coasts from East River/Circle Beach to just west of Hammo.
East River/Circle Beach 600 Gulls spread out in the marsh roost in
East River behind the docks, on Circle Beach and along Grassy Island
beach including a single adult ICELAND GULL (not "FC" the usual winter
resident) and 200+ Bonaparte's Gulls flying west along the shoreline
than around Sachem Head-
350 mostly Herring and Ring-billed in a raft of plankton feeding Scaup
and Brant just offshore off Buffalo Bay, Madison
200 HERG and Ring-billed Gulls near Tuxis Island, Madison including
1-2nd cycle ICELAND GULL
200 HERG and Ring-billed Gulls off East Wharf. Madison,
300 HERG and Ring-billed Gulls mouth of and east of Fence Creek
including 1-1st ICELAND GULL.
500 Bonaparte's Gulls mouth of Fence Creek, Madison. They started
arriving from the east from the middle of the Sound, rafting up off
just offshore and then slowly filtered in to the sand bar as the tide
dropped. I searched hard, but no Little or Black-headed Gulls.
Also 2 Oystercatchers at East Wharf
