I have a Symmetricom TimeSource 3500 of unknown origin that appears to boot
correctly, by LED action, and operates the Rb 10MHz output, but is perhaps
undisciplined by GPS.
I've read through the manual extensively, and have copied the craft port
pinout to the working serial port on an ancient Windows XP computer running
Hyperterminal VT100, 9600 8N1.
I've tried adding an unnecessary null, and tried access as well to the
DB-25 rear serial connector, null in and out there too, without success. No
joy in PuTTY on a modern PC either.
I've done plenty of terminal into other obsolete gear of this era, and
never had these problems with this much effort. Could someone reach me who
has had success on this model series?
Opening it up, there doesn't appear to be any factory reset switch or any
memory battery to pull here.
I may be able to try something Wireshark to the ethernet port, but I don't
think they intended that access for control on this model.

I tried the null, on both ports, nothing on this one.
I can go further and measure voltages m, scope it out too. I was hoping
someone would speak up and say it works for them on this model, but nothing
yet.

Hi Adam,
To my understanding you need a terminal program with Y modem capability or the Timewizzard software according to the manual.

Hi Adam,
You can also use TimeCraft software to control the unit. You can download it from the Microchip website.

If you have the cable shield (not signal ground) connected at both ends, cut one end.

Thanks to all.
I have had the fortune of a contact from an anonymous subscriber who has
left me with all the missing details now.
I'll test this out and my report back, but consider this discussion closed
