Dear Colleagues,
You, too, maybe have just received a deadline reminder for proposals to present research at the Association for Asian Studies Annual Conference to be held from March 19-22, 2020, in Boston (https://conference.asian-studies.org/conference/). Remember, if you are submitting a proposal, our sponsored panel opportunity can help get you to the conference!
Given the continued success of our panel submissions, the Society for Song, Yuan, and Conquest Dynasty Studies will again offer sponsorship for two panels in our research timeframe for the 2020 AAS. The selected panels will receive official recognition by the Society on the conference program. Additionally, panelists will receive funds to offset the cost of participation, including (1) conference registration and (2) $100/person for travel costs for 4-6 participants, including the chair and/or discussant(s). Final proposals will be subject to the regular application requirements and selection process of AAS and funding is contingent on AAS acceptance. If you would like to apply for SSYCDS sponsorship, please send a cv, draft proposal, and the names and contact information (including rank and institutional affiliation) of panel participants to the Secretary (Reiko Shinno SHINNOR@uwec.edumailto:SHINNOR@uwec.edu) by Monday, July 15, 2019. Draft proposals should include the panel abstract as well as abstracts of all individual papers.
Please note that you and the other panelists must be members of the Society to receive support. Although participants are not required to be members at the time of application, all sponsored panel participants are required to pay membership dues for 2020 prior to January 31, 2020. For more information about membership and SSYCDS, please see our website: https://www.songyuan.org/.
If you have any questions about your membership status, please feel free to email Ellen Cong Zhang cz5h@virginia.edumailto:cz5h@virginia.edu.
We look forward to reading your proposals.
With best wishes,
Tracy
