From Ray Belding:
12/16/13 - LHAS CBC -- Birds of interest: Black Vulture, Iceland Gull,
Fox Sparrow, Pine Siskin.
From Mike Resch:
12/16/13 - Milford -- The female Harlequin Duck was relocated near
Merwin Point as of 11 AM. It was actually in the cove just a bit west
of the point actively diving, so it was under the water a large
portion of the time. I parked at Sloppy Jose's (186 Hillside Ave) and
poked my head between a couple houses to look into the cove to the
northeast (the large american flag out on the rocky island was in the
background).
From Frank Gallo:
12/16/13 - Milford, or perhaps West Haven? -- 2:15 PM; the female
Harlequin Duck was sitting on the rocks just west of Merwin point in
West Haven.
From Roy Harvey:
12/16/13 - Stratford, Long Beach -- 10:50 AM; Snowy Owl in the marsh,
viewed from behind the end of the parking lot looking back toward Oak
Bluff Ave and the causeway. Only the upper half was visible, but it
appeared to be a juvenile. 12:00 Noon, with Colleen Talbot; a 2nd
Snowy Owl, this one clearly an adult, in plain veiw a bit to the left
of the original; after a short while it flew briefly and disappeared
into marsh.
Short Beach -- a good sized flock of Snow Buntings (alternately mixing
with and seperating from a similarly sized flock of Horned Larks).
From James Sherwonit:
