If i were to make it there by 6 or 630 would that be too late? would the
deck of milford point be the spot to look and wait or has it been seen
elsewhere typically during these times? is scope absolutely necesassry or
can binocs see it?

David,
The past two nights the Spoonbill has roosted with Egrets in the trees at the SE corner of the Milford Point marsh. The platform at the coastal center has been the best vantage. A scope is far better, but it can be picked out (pink) with binoculars. Last night it was viewable till 7:15 pm, well after the 6:50 sunset. There are bound to be other birders there; some with scopes.
Good luck.

BTW, it was still viewable in the marsh when I left there about 12:30.
