Posting for Mike Lengle (Madison) on his kayak in Little Narragansett Bay.
Terek sandpiper seen on the east end of Sandy Point. First seen on south
side of Sandy Point within 100 yards of the tip. Then it flew to North
side, and then flew from there but Mike did not see where it went - he was
getting his camera, unfortunately.

Just to be clear, we live in Madison - the terek sandpiper was not in
Madison! In my haste to post, and my desire to adhere to the standards of
posting where one lives, I listed Madison after Mike's name in the first
line of the post. The terek sandpiper was in Little Narrangansett Bay - see
original post for more details. Thank you.

Did Mike note how far north on the island it went? The northern part of the island is Connecticut - the northernmost 20% or so.

That was my thought as well, we could have another Little Egret situation
where the bird could wind up on the CT side as well. Certainly something to
keep an eye on.

Per the question regarding location of Terek sighting this morning on Sandy
Point, it was clearly in Rhode Island when I viewed it this morning. First
sighting was on the Napatree facing side of the sand spit, about 100 yards
in from the eastern tip. Second sighting was on the Barn Island facing
site of the sand spit, about 200 yards in from the eastern tip.
Unfortunately, I reached down to get cell phone so I could document (not
being aware at that time where the CT/RI line was I was hoping. maybe I was
in CT, but after researching I was clearly in RI), and when I looked up the
Terek was gone. I didn't see at all which direction it flew in
unfortunately.
