Ronnie Milsap grew up in dire poverty in the Appalachian town of
Robbinsville, North Carolina, and found his refuge in music. His mother
viewed her newborn's

blindness as a punishment from God, and at a year old gave her son to his
grandmother to raise. At the age of six he was sent to the Governor Moorhead
State

School for the Blind in Raleigh, where he faced barbaric disciplinary
treatment through high school. At Moorhead, he was put through a strict
classical music training

program, where he showed the innate talent of a prodigy.

His obsession with music was fueled by listening to late-night radio,
including country music, gospel and rhythm and blues. By the age of 20 he
started his journey

in the music field, releasing his first single, "Total Disaster." By 1965
the young blind pianist and singer recorded the single, "Never Had It So
Good," which hit  No.1

on Billboard's soul chart. In late December 1972 he moved from Memphis to
Nashville, where he took a regular gig at the King of the Road Hotel, which
was a top music

industry hangout at that time.

His music has been carried to country, pop and adult contemporary fans with
hit songs, including "He Got You," "Daydreams About Night Things," "Pure
Love," and

"Please Don't Tell Me How the Story Ends."  Milsap's latest album, My Life
was released in June 2006, and he is currently working with RCA
Nashville/Legacy on his

latest CD venture, The Very Best of Ronnie Milsap. For more information,
