BEST WISHES FOR A SAFE AND SUCCESSFUL EVENT...

... to all Gators who will be slipping, slopping, slapping, wrapping,
training and racing this weekend!

For this holiday weekend we have a light race schedule, but it does include
two of our athletes taking on challenging events.  If you have an event
that we missed, pleeeease post a comment so that we can also send magical
mystical Gator vibes your way as well!  We also have workout opportunities
on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday including a return to Blue Marsh!

Slip, Slop, Slap, and Wrap... Also, as the temperatures continue to warm
and the sun shines bright throughout the summer, please be mindful of
protecting yourself.  Today happens to be National Suncreen Day, National
Heat Awareness Day, and National Don't Fry Day... And that's for a
reason... 1 in 5 will get skin cancer and our workout and event schedules
have us outdoors more often than most people, so please take the necessary
precautions!  National Don't Fry Day's motto is "Slip, slop, slap, and
wrap"... Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen (use the "Teaspoon and
Shotglass" method... a "teaspoon" full for your face/head/neck and a
"shotglass" full for the rest of your body), slap on a wide brimmed cap,
and wrap your eyes with sunglasses... Stay safe! And learn more here...

In case you missed it...

• Our 2022 member t-shirts are now available!  Sizes are first come, first
serve, so see Jill Basile or Don Mack to get one before they are gone!  Two
opportunities over the weekend will be at the Sunday club swim at the
Spring Valley Y and also at Blue Marsh on Monday.

• Gator of the Month Interview with Beth Wysoczanski!  We interviewed our
current female Gator of the Month and posted it earlier this week.  You can
find it under "Featured" / "Announcements".

• Updated "Who's In? 2022" athlete event calendar has been posted!  Please
review it and let us know if there are any changes to your event calendar
or that of your youth Gators.  It's also the place to go to find new events
to add to your calendar!  You can find it under both "Files" and "Featured"
/ "Announcements".

Weekend Workouts: Looks like generally good weather for most of the
weekend, so get out and play!

• Saturday 5/28, 7am, starting from the SRT Parker Ford Trailhead: Long
Cycling Ride. Join many from our IRONMAN Lake Placid training team as they
continue their buildup for the late July event!  This ride is open to all.
The 80 mile Chris Acosta-inspired route is expected to take about 5 hours
of ride time (maybe 6 hours overall) to complete.  See "Event" for
additional details... https://www.facebook.com/events/552820439549277

• Sunday 5/29, 11:15am-12:15pm, Spring Valley YMCA indoor lap pool:
Uncoached group swim workout

• Monday 5/30, 8:15am, Blue Marsh Dry Brooks Day Use Area: OWS / Bike Ride:
Join us for either or both!  We'll start with a 60 minute swim in the "no
vehicles" area between the beach and the open water; the course is 200 to
500 yards depending on your chosen route, so there is something for
everyone and you can also test out your wetsuit.  We'll continue starting
around 9:45am-10am with at least one "Cujo Loop" 17.5 mile loop, a route
that includes multiple challenging climbs and some screaming downhills;
it's a great way to work on your bike strength as well as your bike
handling skills.  See "Event" for additional details...

• Do you want to lead a group bike ride or run? We highly encourage you to
share on our Facebook group any rides or runs that you are doing where
you'd like some company!

Weekend Events: Here's where our 2 athletes will be competing this
weekend...

Saturday, May 28:

• SPONSOR EVENT: DelMo Sports Elite Events' "Crest Best Swim Fest"
(Wildwood Crest, NJ): Welcome back to action, Sheri Kuss!  Sheri makes her
triumphant return to racing as she takes on the longer of the two available
distances with a one mile OWS in the protected bay known as Sunset Lake.
Go Sheri!

Sunday, May 29:

• Vermont City Marathon (Burlington, VT): Brian Kozera will be taking on
this scenic 26.2 mile course that winds through the city of Vermont and
also offers views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains!  Go Brian!
