Hello,
My name is Maritza Baida, one of the dance instructors at Studio 6 Ballroom in Tacoma. We are having a special workshop series event beginning tomorrow (Wednesday, April 28) and Friday, April 30. If you like dancing salsa(whether LA style or NY style) these workshops can add to your repertoire. These workshops are great for beginners and intermediate level dancers. Cuban style is known to be organic, deeply connected to the "clave" rhythm, with an African flavor to the body movement, and danced in a circular manner. It is danced lower to the ground and the footwork is functional as if walking to the music around your partner. This style of salsa is known as "casino" and can be danced in a circle with other couples, where there is a caller (like square-dancing), and the leads change partners after each move is executed. This circular group dance is called "rueda de casino," very popular all around the world.
Victoria-Hadar, from NYC will be teaching casino and rueda de casino. Her workshops will be split between Tacoma and Seattle. If you would like to know more about Victoria, here is a link to her bio:
