Actually, we use mostly wifi in our marina in Bayfield, WI, but often
times the signal at our slip is marginal. Now we're back to wifi
amplication or external antennas, none of which we have tried so far have
been worth the hassle. (I have yet to try the 5mile unit.) But I guess,
we are not cool or hip. Just a neanderthal with one laptop connected to
wifi at the dock. I don't envision other devices on the internet, at
least on this boat. On Lake Superior cell service is marginal at best
unless we are near a larger town like Duluth or Houghton/Hancock, and
usually there is no service at all on the open lake.

If you're only ever going to attach one device, there is no
advantage
to the MiFi (assuming your aircard is the latest technology - the
MiFi
implements the current fastest connectivity).
