Alternatively Stef, it tells us "nothing good" about mind-share of
Smalltalks out there in the real world.

The current mindshare of Pharo is on a par with Lasso.  The mindshare
of all Smalltalks is on a par with Julia or Objective C++

Commercial take-up is highly correlated with mindshare.

At some point, we need to address the mindshare issue directly, rather
than pretending it is irrelevant.

One of the models of tech uptake has a path that runs: contains
Development
Dismissal
Disappearance

If we're not even visible enough to have questionnaire's reflect our
approach, this is not a good sign.  I don't think it necessarily
reflects poorly on the questionnaire's authors.

Euan

Dear Cincom Smalltalkers, Smalltalkers;

Last year at ESUG I noted that Smalltalk was not represented as a language on the Stack Overflow developer survey.

Smalltalk is a powerful language that is still unsurpassed in many ways.
A new generation of developers may have never heard of it!

I made it an action item to notify Smalltalk developers, customers and community, when the survey was open, so we could
collectively address this oversight.

The Stack Overflow developer survey is now open!

Question #9 & #10 on the second page asks about what language you use or want to use.

I filled in "Smalltalk". Later on it asks which environment you work in.

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/so-2016

NOTE:  Please fill-out as soon as possible as the survey will only be open for a short time and could close imminently.

When we cannot participate to a survey because the period is too short then I’m sorry but this is a crappy survey
and I know because we run surveys.
