Green Day Nov 2017

Hi all,

the last e-mail entitled "Green Day" was in July, and since then it's been extremely tough going.

Today, with a little cheating, we're looking reasonably green again for the first time:

To make it a little prettier, I copied the successful Windows debug line over from the previous run.

Mac X and Z will fail due to an NSPR bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1399746 where the NSPR experts are tearing their hair out on how to fix it. Since it's only triggered by TB debug on Mac, the interest isn't ravishing :-(

Recent Necko bustage has been fixed, still looking into decluttering our logs from 2000 warnings produced by our new friend, the sliced input stream.

I didn't do all this myself: As always many thanks to all the other bustage fighters, in particular Aceman, Tom and Philipp for Calendar, and FRG and Edmund on the SM and Mailnews side. Also many thanks to M-C people who fixed the bustage we discovered for them, most recently Masayuki and Andrea (:baku). We have many friends in M-C who also help on many occasions, like Boris (:bz), Zibi, Pike, Nicholas (:njn), Olli (:smaug), Masatoshi (:emk), Eric (:erahm), Kris (:kmag), Henri (:hsivonen) and many others (forgive me if I forgot to mention someone here). Also many thanks to Tooru and FRG who are my "bustage Oracles". Given a regression range, they spot the regressing bug with very high reliability.

According to my classification the tree status is still "deteriorating" since as you can see, there are failures on Linux debug for which we don't have manpower to investigate and fix. There's also a bunch of switched-off tests which tend to fail on particular platforms, but which don't reflect functional failures. Again, no manpower to investigate and fix these failures.

At time of writing, Daily is safe to use again, but of course that can change tomorrow.

Jörg.
