Russ:

I had a Verizon smart phone with a Sim card. They will give you
international data for 50 to 60 per month. You can buy as little as a
week or as much as you want. The connection was over Batelco's towers.
There is an app available for Andriod phones called  PdaNet from a
company with an unusual name. Their website is www.junefabrics.com/.
This app will let you set up a mobile hot spot with your phone and share
it with several computers. The advantage of this app is that there are
no additional monthly charges from Verizon. They also offer an app for
IPhone and Blackberry but I have not used these.

There are lots of ways to do this but I would check with your carrier first.
