Dear Colleagues,

I would like to introduce yet another new member of the community, Michael Hoeckelmann ( mich.hoec@gmail.com ), who gives this account of his interests:

I studied Sinology, Linguistics, and Political Science at University of Muenster from 2002 to 2009, interrupted by a stay in Guangzhou from 2005 to 2007, where I studied Mandarin and Chinese Philosophy. Currently, I am writing my Ph.D. thesis on the religio-political thought of Li Deyu 李德裕 (787-850) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Reinhard Emmerich, which I shall finish this summer. I am also a member of the graduate school at the so called "cluster of excellence" Religion and Politics in Premodern and Modern Cultures at University of Muenster. I am mainly interered in the intellectual history of premodern China (both philosophy and religion), the history of Chinese institutions, gender & violence (particularly eunuch history), the theory of religion, sociology of knowledge, the Tang-Song Transition, and Chen Yinke 陳寅恪.

Please join me in welcoming Michael to the listserv.

Yours truly,

Michael
