Hi list,
I am using an E100 with 3.0.0 kernel as compiled by Ettus, I have
been using the device for an embedded RF application however I have hit a
major issue. I require to use the device as an embedded router which means
I need "netfilter" / "iptables" support which is not built into the Ettus
kernel. Has anyone built a kernel from scratch for Angstrom? Does anyone
have the configuration file to build a new kernel image with all the
current support Ettus have built in? I did not find a config file in /boot.
Does anyone have any tips on getting iptables capabilities in the E-series
of devices? I had assumed that there would be some but when searching opkg
repos and dmesg output I can find no references to it just the user land
packages.
Any help greatly appreciated, if at the least I could get a .config to
compile a kernel from scratch with the module enabled that would be awesome!
Kind Regards,
Matthew

I found the running config file via /proc - will attempt to rebuild the
kernel from scratch, if anyone has any other ideas on how to add much
needed netfilter support please let me know.
Kind Regards,
Matthew

Do you know what config items need changing? I can rebuild the official
kernel and push a package update.

Hi Phil, it was just net filter support that is missing for iptables, I
actually succeeded in cross compiling a custom kernel using the 3.0.0 OE
receipe that has the usrp_e device drivers etc. I used cross tools and
replaced the uImage files and modules. Worked just fine and I can now use
the E100 as router.
I've succeeding in getting OpenBTS with realtime asterisk & GPRS support
functioning on the e-series but had to custom compile a lot of code. I
never succeeded in doing a complete OE angstrom build as bit bake failed
for me.
The key missing feature in kernel is net filter, I enabled all as built in.
/proc/config.gz had running config and the arm cross tools built a
functioning uimage :-)
I would still add to official image as iptables support is extremely useful
when linking TCP/IP to RF. Thanks for the reply!
