"The company very much regrets the environmental impact caused as a
consequence of the vessel being caught in Cyclone Hamish," it said in a  statement."
Of course this is pure BS. It is a consequence of an overloaded vessel.
Ships have been overloaded with containers for decades; losing containers  now and
then in rough wx is acceptable to the companies because the  cost of insura
nce is much less than sticking to lesser numbers of  containers. So we who
venture onto the high seas are at risk from this greed as  well as the environment
which we all will pay for eventually anyway. None of the  articles I've read
on this recent debacle mention the ship being overloaded -  they are blaming it
on the weather, and since the media don't care about  the truth, I wonder if
it will ever become an issue.
