We have a Navtex receiver on board our trawler, which prints on a cashier roll
of paper. The paper is widely available at office supply stores and it is
inexpensive. Some Navtex receivers with printers use proprietary paper rolls
and these rolls could blow your budget. Personally, we prefer the unit with
printer instead of the display only models, because it gives you a hard copy.
The Navtex receiver is one of the important tools to receive weather and
navigational news and should be on board of serious cruising boats. Diesel
Duck
benefited from Canada down to Puerto Rico, the ABCs and in South America
from
the transmission of the Navtex stations. Our unit is a model NRC-330
Navtex
Receiver from JRC and has worked flawlessly up to now.
