All,
My wife and I have been lurking on the list because we (should I say "I"?)
intend to purchase a trawler. So, we are learning from all of you. Thank
you.
This note has a different purpose, however. Q3 publishes books written by
those of us in the third quarter of our lives (i.e., you gotta be 50 or
older <grin), who are fulfilling dreams by learning new skills to support
active lifestyles.
I'm wondering if there is a reader of the list who would be interested in
writing about his or her experience of learning about, and making
significant use of, a trawler? The title for the planned book is Crossing
the Horizon. Q3 has a very clear, easy-to-follow format for manuscript
development and we pride ourselves on being real editors (anyone remember
Hemingway's editor at Scribner's, Max Perkins?).
The prerequisites are obvious: it's helpful if you write reasonably well,
although almost anyone's writing is improved by good editing. You must have
tackled learning about trawlers and subsequent cruising after you reached
fifty. And you should have the time and ability to complete the manuscript
in a reasonable period of time--three to six months.
Happy to talk by phone. FYI, my background includes serving as an editorial
VP at McGraw-Hill NY, as well as SVP of a group of technology magazines in
California. I moved to Wine Country (Sonoma County) to work as VP Business
Development for an Internet start-up sold to AOL in 1995. That was before
the days of big money in the dotcoms, but the bio info is to say (1)
publishing is my life and (2) new business development is not uncharted
waters. Send a short email and then lets talk, if you might be
interested? The website should be up shortly. Until then, I'd be happy to
provide details.
