We were visited by Ben from New Jersey, Jake from Windsor, Mike and Barb from Tecumseh, Jane from Toronto, Bob from Amherstburg, Rob and Cheryl from Amherstburg and Lou & Toni from Windsor. Weather: Today started off with a clear sky and light southwest wind, the temperature sitting at 13 Degrees C. The wind remained light (under 16kph) all day, and the sky clear blue. In the afternoon the temperature went up to 25 Degrees C, downright summer temperatures! There was once again a light haze in the air. The barometer sat near 30.05. Raptor Observations: Extremely quiet on the raptor front today, even compared to yesterday. We recorded 273 raptors today, the bulk of those being a small trickle of Turkey Vultures (229) far inland. Most of the day we recorded only 1-10 birds per hour. The highlight was two Peregrine Falcons in the morning. Non-raptor Observations: The American White Pelican invasion continues, with 639 counted in the marsh today. We also saw the Common Gallinule and Blackpoll Warbler that have been lingering for the past few days, both birds that are normally gone by this date. Overall it was very slow for songbirds, with the exception of the American Goldfinch (619) that migrated past in good numbers. Other highlights included; 1 Common Loon, 980 Tree Swallows, 1 Caspian Tern and 4 Trumpeter Swans. 70 species were recorded From the tower today, for the full list click here - https://ebird.org/checklist/S199801156 Predictions: Tomorrow looks very similar for wind and temperatures, though there may be some cloud cover present.
