A bird in the pilothouse

I've had birds on boats many times, especially moving north in the
Spring off the Yucatan and Cuba. Almost always exhausted swallows. On
one occasion we had about 12 of them in a line, hitching a ride on the
stern rail. Unfortunately many of them die - nature's law - survival of
the fittest. I always consider it good luck, but I haven't had an
albatross land yet.
