Sea Recovery vs Village Marine Watermakers

I have recently purchased a Village Watermaker 600gpd.
I researched each of these products quite thoroughly before making the
choice.

Sea Recovery uses third party parts and assembles them.
Village Marine actually manufactures their components.

Sea Recovery uses Cat pumps which are brass/bronze. The heads have proven to
erode with use in salt water under high pressure.
Village Marine manufactures and uses a Titanium pump and pump head.

Village Marine manufactures to Mil Spec and Theirs are the units installed
for the military and on all Coast Guard boats.

When I contacted Sea Recovery to inquire why I should buy their unit and why
is it better. The only response was we have been in business longer.
When I asked some technical questions on the components they use I was
refereed to a selling dealer to answer that question. They could not even
tell me what they put inside a unit.

All Village Marine sales people are also service Technicians. I have a phone
number for 24/7 service should I need it.

I went to Florida and picked up my unit and I installed it myself. It was
very straight forward and simple to do. I turned on the unit and it does the
rest. It has been working flawlessly.

I suggest you contact both companies and ask them why should I buy your
unit?

Bill Lee (Ocean Quest, 65' Romsdahl), now in Mexico was building
watermakers and supplied some to Seahorse Marine in China.
In any event, Bill recommended Village Marine and ask them to use off
the shelf components, instead of their custom built parts which are hard
to get in out of the way places. He said there stuff was way better than
anyone else's. BTW he said that the weak spot in all these systems is
the electronic control box. Carry a spare.
