An old tugboat captain once told me to smear mayonnaise liberally on
the sticker and leave it overnight. Next morning the vinegar in the
mayonnaise has softened  both sticker and glue and it's easy to
scrape off. Works particularly well with old stickers and masking
tape that was left on too long. Had to clean up a boat once that the
previous owner had masked in preparation  for painting and then lost
interest. Boat sat outside all winter with the masking tape in place.
Sure glad for the mayonnaise trick.
