found a PACIFIC LOON OFF Oyster River mouth. As of 2:30 PM seen from
1st side road east of rotary at Baybrook Tavern. As of 4 PM, close in
(with a Common Loon) off foot of Annawon Ave, West Haven.

one of at least 3 Yellow-billed Cuckoo to finally come out and show

Chamberlain, the bird was seen and heard in a small overgrown field.

05/18/13 - Madison/Killingworth, line at the Hammonasett River --
Walked across the foot bridge and up towards the dam and saw (and
heard) 5 COMMON RAVENS up on the rocks. A few minutes later an
apparent adult pair joined them and when we came back to the area they
all flew off to much croaking and squawking, to a nearby tree. A
family group, it seems.

05/17/13 - Kent, North Kent Rd -- ORCHARD ORIOLE; a pair copulating
just east of RR track crossing. This is on the section of North Kent
Rd. east of the river, accessed from Rt. 7. I have never seen them
here before, much less signs of nesting.
Kent, Camps Flat Rd -- COMMON NIGHTHAWK. Two birds feeding low at 7:30
PM. Four more birds a few minutes later over the Housatonic River in
Gaylordsville. I believe the two sightings, about two miles apart,
make the largest grouping I have ever seen in the spring.
