Danbury Wood Stork and GroupMe

Hi All!

My good friend and neighbor spotted the wood stork in her Danbury yard
yesterday evening!  West Lake Reservoir and Upper Kohanza Lake in Danbury
both have parking access and are the closest bodies of water to the
sighting. (the bird flew off from her yard after a few minutes)

My understanding is a couple of birders were at West Lake Reservoir  this
morning with no wood stork luck, though a Bald Eagle was spotted.  I
believe it is a resident as I often see it around.  I love my often
underappreciated city, and it's a beautiful reservoir if you're up for the
adventure!

I scrambled last night to get myself on GroupMe to report the sighting. I
have to say, it was super simple to download, sign up, and get approved for
access to the group.  Thanks to all in the group for their friendly
support!  I encourage all to check it out.

Happy Birding!

Good morning. I downloaded GroupMe and created an account but cannot find the group. Please advise as to what I type in the search bar.

Thanks.

Hi William (and all)

At Chuck’s request, I am copying the whole list on this.

Here is the info on how to join the Rare Bird Alert.

It’s a private group so not searchable.

Here is the information to join the RBA:

Here are the details that I’ve sent to other folks:

  1. Download the GroupMe app in Apple App Store or Google Play Store on your
phone (don’t know if you have apple or android)

  2. When you get the app and open it, it’ll prompt you to make an account
which is very easy. It might ask for your phone number in addition to
email, and if so, it needs to be your cell.

  3. When you have the account made and are in the app (you will be able to
see the word “Chats” at the top left of the screen and a blue pencil icon
on the bottom right), click this join link (on your phone).

https://groupme.com/join_group/83300607/1yz3Vwak

You will be promoted to answer the question of what is your favorite
birding spot. It doesn’t matter what you enter- it’s just to weed out spam
accounts.

  1. Once you’re in the group, there’s a rules document that can be found in
the pinned post at the top of the group or at the link here.

bit.ly/ctgroupme

It’s a strictly-moderated group so I ask everyone to read it, especially
the list of reportable species :) It is ONLY for sightings.

Let me know if this doesn’t make sense or if something doesn’t want to work.
