FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 14 September, 2014 Contact Jo Ann Sullivan sullivanjm1@msn.com Gig Harbor art exhibit draws entries from US & Canada Peninsula Art League’s annual Open Juried Show opens Sept. 26 at the Harbor History Museum (GIG HARBOR) Peninsula Art League’s 12th annual Open Juried Show will be unveiled Friday, Sept. 26 at Gig Harbor’s history museum. According to Jo Ann Sullivan, former PAL president who chaired this year’s Open Show, nearly 300 entries were submitted by artists from across the U. S. and Canada. Juror Carla O’Conner, a highly acclaimed Gig Harbor watercolorist, selected 101 paintings and photographs to hang in the show. More than $6000 in cash and merchandise will be awarded at a public reception, Sept. 28, 6-8 p.m. at the museum. The public is encouraged to vote for their favorite artwork, and the People’s Choice award will be presented Nov. 15, the last day of the show. “This is a very diverse show with something for everyone,” Sullivan said. “I think everyone will enjoy Carla O’Connor’s choices.” Subject matter ranges from landscapes and figures to abstracts and animals, with every medium represented. At this time, no guided tours of the exhibit have been scheduled. “But I’m sure that, if there’s a request, PAL will be glad to provide docents,” Sullivan said. The Harbor History Museum is located at 4121 Harborview Drive. The show is free with museum admission.
