batteries bottom, alternator red wire to disconnect in middle bottom,
positive bus top left, negative bus bottom right. No current carrying
wires to engine, only bonding connection.
Two shunts visible, one on the negative bus at the bottom left of the bar,
one on the positive side near the top left hand side of the positive bus. I
wanted to know exactly how many amps the alternator was putting out so the
alternator plus comes up from the bottom to a fuse/disconnect then is
jumpered to the shunt which is connected to the bus. This seemed more
convenient and accurate at the time because there could be multiple ground
paths back to the alternator (case + ground wire). But if the alternator has
an isolated ground (and many high amp alternators do) then the bus end of
the alternator ground wire would be better for the shunt.

On my boat I have found it useful to know:
- How many amps the alternator is producing, (can be 0 to plus values)
- The net DC power consumption/contribution of the boat (all loads
including inverter minus alternator) to the batteries. (Can be plus or minus
value)
- The amp load of the inverter. (only a negative value)
