Hi, I have an HP counter timer in which the reference clock module has
failed 🙁
I need to replace it but those seem to be unobtainium ... there are
several alternative units that would fit
but I worry that the PSU may not be able to handle the load.
Can anyone give me an idea of the current needs of the above, or better
still provide a spec sheet ???
Regards,
Dave

Hi Dave,
without seeing a picture of the OCXO, just going by the part number it is a
Morion MV85 series OCXO. I've attached an ordering guide I found.
The ordering guide doesn't exactly match the nomenclature of the code you have
posted, but:
C20F hints that the operating temperature range is -20°C to +70°C with 2e-8
stability (relative to the nominal frequency I guess) and +-5e-8 per year.
It looks like it's a 5V part.
The MV85A parts are double-oven OCXOs, you find them all over Ebay or
Aliexpress, but most of what you get is fake parts.
Hth,
Matthias

Dave,
If it is the oscillator you need, there are several listed on eBag
in the $25.00 range.

Interesting ... my first (and only) exposure to Morion oscillators is when
I opened up an Oriola GSG-series GNSS simulator I bought off eBay, to find
a truly elegantly designed product with gorgeous PCB layout, and with a
Morion OCXO from the MV103 series inside. Picture attached.
