RYDER CUP

Hi guys,

Signups for our annual Ryder Cup event will be available starting June 1.  Again we are playing 36 holes on Friday, August 17, at Marshallia, and 36 holes on Saturday, August 18, at La Purisima.  On Sunday, August 19, we are playing the Victoria Lakes course at River Ridge in Oxnard.

The overall entry cost is $300.  That cost includes greens fees, cart, and buy-in for the 90 holes.  Due to IRS problems with Paypal, the Paypal  cost is only  $50.  The $250 balance must be paid with a check payable to Rick Melniker and mailed to Rick at 4125 Charles Ave, Culver City, CA 90232.  To guarantee your spot in the event the check should be received by Rick within 2 weeks of the entry.  The checks will be deposited on August 1.

Ryder Cup participants must have their 2012 dues paid.  If you’re not sure email Paul at postel@road-dawgs.orgmailto:postel@road-dawgs.org.

It is up to you to secure lodging.

Our Saturday night dinner will be at the Red Zone in Lompoc.  We will meet there immediately after golf at La Purisima.  The Red Zone will accommodate individual or group checks.

After the two captains, Mike King and Evan Green, and our two pros, Dave Youpa and Art Guevara, we have 32 spots available.  We have never had to deny someone a spot in this event.  However, players who have participated in our monthly events this year will have priority.

For our Ryder Cup format we require even foursomes.  If the initial 36 spots are filled and we get enough players on the wait list I will contact the courses and try to add additional foursomes.  If you have secured a spot and have to cancel and there is no one available on the wait list it is your responsibility to find a replacement.

'Dawgs,

You can see if you have renewed or not by clicking on the "Club Roster" link in the right-hand column under the heading "Documents" at http://www.road-dawgs.org  Find your name on the list.  If you see "CURRENT" in the status column then you are good.  "EXPIRED" or "LONG-EXPIRED" not good.  Unlike tournament entries, membership is a manual process.  I get an email that says you paid then I go update your status.  So if you pay it may take a while before you see your status change to "CURRENT".  It's always possible that I missed your email.  If you think you paid but you are not "CURRENT", email me directly and I can investigate -- or if you have the paypal email record just forward it directly to me at "postel@road-dawgs.org".

Best,

Paul

Guys, I want to pass on this message from Coach King, Captain of the El Rey Ryder Cup team:

The Industry Hills City Championship is July 27th – 29th .  If any Ryder Cupper (from either side) wants a warm welcome from The Coach at The Ryder Cup it is strongly advised you play in the City Championship.

If you have already signed up, THANK YOU.  For the rest of you avoid that awkward moment when you see Coach King for the first time in Marshallia by signing up here:

Hmmm.....

Last year, Coach King greeted me in the Marshalia parking lot with both front and rear views of what lay under his kilt.

Are you suggesting the welcome will be MORE awkward than that?

Whilst I appreciate this may not have been The Coach’s finest moment I am still not sure I want to test the theory that it could get nastier.

I promise if you play in The City Championship AND the Ryder Cup you will not have to discover what Coach wears under his kilt (again)!

Sounds like a great offer to me……

Cheers

It could lay to rest the notion that he's playing with an illegal shaft... Or that his balls are not regulation shape or size.
What can I say, I'm a golf purist?!

Subject: Re: [Dawgs] A message from Coach King

Hmmm.....

Last year, Coach King greeted me in the Marshalia parking lot with both front and rear views of what lay under his kilt.

Are you suggesting the welcome will be MORE awkward than that?

Guys, I want to pass on this message from Coach King, Captain of the El Rey Ryder Cup team:

The Industry Hills City Championship is July 27th – 29th .  If any Ryder Cupper (from either side) wants a warm welcome from The Coach at The Ryder Cup it is strongly advised you play in the City Championship.

If you have already signed up, THANK YOU.  For the rest of you avoid that awkward moment when you see Coach King for the first time in Marshallia by signing up here:

makes me feel a little better about having missed the Ryder Cup.
