Hi everyone!

I just wanted to quickly introduce myself to the listserv - my name is Fin Lee (they/them) & I've been the Teen Librarian at Altadena Library District for the past 3 years. I know we'll slowly start to share with each other with various questions and updates, however, in the meanwhile...

I would love to see if other Teen Librarians in the area would like to meet up?

Our library would be able to host if there is some interest! We have a gorgeous little reading court in the backyard of our branch library that would be nice for an after-hours gathering. I'm always amazed at how small the library world is but I don't know a ton of Teen Librarians (and I should know more!).

Please let me know your interest and maybe we can see what days/times work best after the summer craze.

Additionally, would love to see what everyone else is doing for summer? I'm attaching a flyer of the summer programs for our community.

My name is Victoria Perez and I am the Teen Librarian for the City of Commerce Public Library system. I think this is a great idea. I am currently working on our teen summer reading program so would love to share ideas. As soon as I have my booklet done I will share it. We are doing plant a seed read but for the teens I am adding a spooky twist.

Hi all!

My name is Evette and I'm the YA Librarian at LAPL's Silver Lake Branch. I
think a meeting of YA/Teen Librarian minds sounds lovely! Thanks for
pitching the idea, Fin. :)

Silver Lake was closed from July 2025 to February 2026 for facility
upgrades and I transferred from another LAPL branch right before its
closure, so I've mainly been getting to know the branch/community and
working on rebooting YA programming here. It would be great to meet and
learn from others, especially those in other library systems around the
area.

We are currently gearing up for summer reading programs here too, which
we'll be kicking off with a special World Cup themed program
https://www.lapl.org/whats-on/events/summer-world-cup-kick for all ages,
but I have some YA programs coming up that I'm pretty excited about as well

Aloha all!

My name is Doreen Thomas (she/her) and I’ve been the Youth Services Librarian at Sierra Madre Public Library for 3 years. I love the idea of a meet up! Thank you for reaching out and offering to host, Fin! I don’t know a lot of other Teen Librarians and would really welcome connecting with more. My Library is currently closed and actively moving books back to our permanent building so things are crazy to say the least. We will have our Grand Reopening on June 6 which is the same day as our SRP Kickoff event. It feels like a mad dash to the finish line. Our summer calendar is almost finished and I will share once it is solid. Right now for our Teens we have D&D, Chess Club, and SRP Teen Volunteer/Reading Buddies opportunities. We hope to offer gaming events/activities in the fall in our new space.

I look forward to meeting you in person!
