Dear All,

Happy New Year!  Please see below a self-introduction from our most recent member, Mr. Greg Sattler.

My name is Greg Sattler, and I am a recent graduate of Kyushu University, in Fukuoka, Japan. There, I attended a master's program in Japanese humanities, and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. My research is focused on the history of the Chinese and Korean sea merchants who were active in East Asia during the ninth to twelfth centuries. Prior to my studies in Japan, I received my bachelor's degree from National Taiwan University's Department of History. I am a fluent speaker of Chinese, a capable speaker of Japanese, and can read classical primary sources in both languages.

More recently, I have applied to several PhD programs in the United States and England. I am very much looking forward to researching the history of East Asia throughout my future career.

Cheers,

Reiko Shinno, Ph.D.
