Dear Colleagues,
I write with a few updates from the Society for Song, Yuan, and Conquest Dynasty Studies. Firstly, Professor Valerie Hansen just finalized the date for the “Third Middle Period China Humanities Conference.” This fabulous event will be held June 25-28, 2020, at Yale University. More details are forthcoming, and will be posted to the conference website: https://ceas.yale.edu/3rd-Middle-Period-China-Humanities-Conference. Be sure to keep the date clear on your calendars, you won’t want to miss it.
Secondly, full panel and paper abstracts of the SSYCDS-sponsored panels at the 2019 AAS have been posted to our website (https://www.songyuan.org/). Please look for updated panel information there, as well as on the conference website. I will send out more information regarding the time and location of our annual meeting held at the AAS in Denver as the conference draws near.
Finally, as most of you know, Professor Conrad Schirokauer, the wonderful historian of Middle Period China, passed away on September 19 at the age of 89. The Society deeply mourns the loss of such a fine colleague and human being. An “in memoriam” box will appear in JSYS 48, and we are also planning to publish an obituary by Professor Bob Hymes in the same issue.
With best wishes,
Tracy

Thank you for the update.
I have written an "in Memoriam" and have sent it to Conrad's family, but
would be happy also to have published in the JSYS. I think the Schirokauer
family should not have a problem about it. But let me check with them
first. I append a copy for your reference first.
