As the researcher for the Classic Trawler Yachts Network  I am actively
working on the history of the Romsdal and Malahide yachts which were early
examples of passagemaker motor yachts produced commercially (rather than
one-off designs).  I have an interest in all other early yachts meeting the
idea of a circumnavigating or blue water serious motor yachts but our first
aim is to document these two groups of boats...... our ultimate goal is to
share this information with a large population of people via our website
(www.classictrawlers.net).    I am very excited about the amount of contact I
am getting from several Romsdal and Malahide owners, one with 40 years of
collection of information about the Romsdals!!!  We encourage anyone with an
interest or historical perspective on the boats to sign in, join the website
to receive the periodic newsletter, and send us your information.  Each small
piece of info you remember may lead to finding and preserving these fine
boats.......  My cofounder of the Classic Trawler Yachts Network website
Dennis Phethean and I encourage contact about your experiences with these
vessels over the years, no matter how small it may seem to you...it may be
the piece we need to make the story.....watch for our updates online and
hopefully in nautical publications as the story unfolds.  We believe we know
now the whereabouts and current activities of the Romsdal M/V Edward Grieg
that had to heave to in the English Channel in a major storm in the late
1950's when enroute to the US.  She is still afloat and looking good!!!
Stay  tuned for the story.  See the story of her trip to the US on the
reproduction of the SEA and Pacific MotorBoat magazine article on the
website.
