During the 2005 Seattle boat show Maptech touted they were giving away free
digital charts with the purchase of a paper chart kit.  Also Rosepoint
Navigation is now providing free ENC S-57 charts with their application.
They also make reference to free charts "derived" from NOAA charts.  For
those of you that have used these charts, do you find them of high enough
quality to navigate effectively?  Are there regions where the S-57 coverage
is inadequate, and you find yourself buying other digital charts to
supplement the free ones?  My research on the S-57 charts left me feeling a
little disappointed in the visual quality, but I realize huge tankers and
cruise ships find them adequate, so who am I to complain?  The feedback of
list members that have experience would be valuable.  Thanks!  Scott
