Best State to Claim

In addition to the posting regarding Washington annual fees, a huge issue  is
the sales or "use" tax when bringing a vessel in from another state.  I
think there is an exemption if you were resident in the other state and had the
boat registered there for six months or more . . . something like that.  But,
if you don't meet the exemption, it's a tax of about 8% on the fair market
value of your vessel.

The flip side of the coin, Washington has no personal income tax . . . . so
each has to weigh where "they" can get you!
