RIB Prop

Thanks to all for the Inverter info. I have decided to install a 1000 watt
Pure Sine Wave next to the batteries. All I need is power for a 500 watt
coffee pot, fan, TV, or laptop fan.

Now to the Prop.......

I am purchasing a new prop for a 1976 Evinrude 15 horsepower on a 10 foot
Avon RIB.
I found pitches from 7-10 inches. I know pitch depends on load and normally
only  2 or us are on board. I currently have the old standard prop which
may be an 8 inch. I would like to have the ability to carry 4 on occasion.
Anyone have a pitch suggestion?
Thanks
Jimmy

Jimmy,
I went through this exercise with our 15 HP Yamaha 4 stroke and 10-6
Caribe. I ended up with 2 props. It was intentional - I had an argument
with a reef in the Bahamas and spare props aren't so easy to come by
there...

The prop I had would plane both of us and the dogs, but not without some
coaxing. I went down in pitch two notches, that prop planes 3 adults +
dogs or 4 adults of average weight ( OK, maybe less than average at
about 160 # ea) but won't plane with us plus 2 who weigh much more than
we do. I also got a prop in between. I put on the low pitch prop when
guests are aboard and use the "tweener" for normal use.

I'd suggest you find the actual pitch of the prop you have installed,
and work from there. It would help to know WOT rpm loaded if at all
possible. I did lose a bit of top end, but insignificant overall. FWIW I
paid <$80 for the prop.
