Subject: Re: [Oldboys] Old Boy meetup to discuss possible OB dues and expectations

All,
Thanks again to Goose, Scott Blitz, Mike Lay, Mike Smith, Arron Bennett, OB, Roder, Ed Durica and Scotty Norris for attending the meeting on tuesday night. We missed a few of you but we survived.

All were in agreement that the club is headed in the right direction and Coach Angus made some great cases to have the OBs more involved. The main areas of concern were how to create a revenue stream for the Quins. This initial Booster club meeting is expected to continue indefinitely.
The answer to this that the booster club will meet regularly if possible monthly, but the 1st or 2nd Tuesday in November every year we will meet up with the current Boosters and do it all again.    This means that we will have a yearly renewal of the basic Boosters with the intent to grow beyond the core 10.
Next years official Booster Club "term" will renew on Nov 7th, 2017.

The next questions were where does the money go:
3 main areas that we as a club are failing on and need monetary help to make them happen are:
Match filming (which is imperative in this current environment) : Referees cost $150/match now and if there are any issues during that match we have no recourse without video footage. I personally fronted the cost of filming out last matches in coordination with Kirk from the Wheelchair rugby team to fly his drones to film the matches. We would like this to continue.
Recruiting: We want to be able to pay Coach Angus plus one more to go to different state colleges and even out of state to meet with potential college players. We estimate that cost to be $350/Trip to cover hotel, food and gas. We would also like to be able to give out Quin gear to prospects.
Pay for a professional accountant to audit the books and ensure that we are following the correct entry process. And also to balance the accounts as we move into next year with a Youth organization led by Angus and me.

I have attached the budget as we currently have it and there are a few items that are a bit vague and I can answer any questions on those. We are actively tweaking the register to reflect all that we are doing to be more transparent. This is inflated as we bought new jerseys and the money was fronted by Kris and then we reimbursed him and the entertainment expense was me fronting the bill for the Spring banquet and then getting paid back.

So far Dan and Scott Blitz have donated. If you'd like to be one of the 10, we need 7 more as Sol will be mailing me a check.
You can donate on Paypal here: http://www.harlequins.org/donate

Or mall a check to our PO Box:
Denver Harlequins RFC
PO Box 12112
Denver CO, 80212

Some other takeaways were that the scores and standing of the club are not listed and that we need to get together more as a group.
Aaron has already sent them in an email and we are going to link the matches on the website to the RMR page with the match details and scores.

http://www.rockymountainrugby.org/rocky-mountain-division-3.html

We have also scheduled a standing monthly meetup that is open to any OBs and    Quins alike:
Harlequins Old Boys Rugby Viewing Party

In the first Sunday of the month, the Denver Harlequins Old Boys will be watching a rugby match at the Irish Rover, reminiscing about old times, and generally shooting the shit.

Please respond back to Aaron(acbenett@umich.edu) regarding what time of day you'd like us to do it. If there's any specific match you'd like to see, tell him a day head of time and I can bring it.

Please join us...  always the more the merrier.

I'm excited about having an active Old Boys social aspect to the club. I think that will help give the Quins the culture we have been lacking in recent years.

I have access to pretty much any top level match in the world through
acrossthetasman.com So, if there's a match you would like to see, just tell me in advance and I'll save it to a flash drive to play at the Old Boys nights.
