View all threadsHi all,
I ask that the team hold off on editing or adding to the wiki starting
from 8pm EDT and through to tomorrow afternoon while make a final database
dump and migrate over to the upgraded Confluence instance. The existing
Confluence instance will still be available during this time but any
changes made will not be reflected in the new instance. I will send a
follow up email when the update is complete and access is restored.
Thanks,
Thanks, Jesse. Is it relatively easy to put a note on the wiki to remind us about this? I'm concerned I'll just go to a page without thinking (not that I'm planning to but …)

Good suggestion, Chris.
I've put up a banner on the Deploy wiki:
http://wiki.collectionspace.org/display/deploy/CollectionSpace+Deployments
And will do that on the main, DOC, and UNRELEASED wikis as well ...
If this isn't garish enough to attract attention, let me know - we can
make it even more obvious! :-)

Good idea, Chris. I added a site-wide banner (and it's hard to miss!)

Hi all,
The migration and upgrade to the new Confluence instance is complete. The
new wiki (and Jira) instances are now hosted on a separate dedicated
server, which should keep them more stable than they have been lately. If
you don't see the new wiki at the usual URL then please wait a few minutes
for the DNS changes to propagate. The old wiki instance will still remain
in place for the near future and can be accessed at
http://oldwiki.collectionspace.org
There were a number of large changes from the original Confluence instance,
3.5 from 2011, to the most recent version that is now installed, 5.4.
Biggest visible change is the move away from typical 'wiki' editing over to
use of a rich text editor much like editing text in a CMS like WordPress. I
think it's very useful although, and if you're like me, you might find it
peculiar the first few times you try to implement macros. Macros are still
available yet their set up has changed slightly so that it is interactive
in filling out the various attributes. Please see the handy links I've
provided below.
On the topic of macros, there have been additional changes in how the new
Confluence interprets the older wiki-style macro definitions. Not all
existing macro declarations were converted over to the new wiki style, yet
will still render exactly as before. These macro declarations, such as
{multi-excerpt-include...}, are still present and editable but are
surrounded by a block labeled "Wiki Markup". (It's important to note that
when creating a new 'multi-excerpt-include' macro declaration it'll be
editable in the new style.)
Please let me know if there are any broken links, missing plugins or other
concerns. Undoubtedly, with a wiki this size and with dozens of plugins
there may be some things I didn't catch initially.

Thanks, Jesse! This is great to see. Both the wiki and Jira have been and continue be extremely important tools and knowledge bases for us.

For those of us who prefer to edit pages directly in wiki markup,
rather than in the WYSIWYG / rich text editor, some possible
approaches (as yet untried):
