To make the easier, let’s just assume we can work our board meeting around what ever we decide, even if it needs to be by phone. Let’s also assume that if ALA space is being used on one of these dates proposed for our meeting, it will be relatively easier to find an alternative.

Can each of you rank the options below and let us know if you would not be available for any of them? Or have already booked your travel and this will mess that up?

  1. Awards evening of  Sept. 28th; member meeting Sept. 28th (the original plan)
Awards will have to held “off campus” and likely in a not-so-great venue - and likely no members of Congress or congressional staff will be able to come

  2. Awards evening of Sept. 27th; member meeting Sept. 28th
With this option we can get a space for awards at Rayburn House office building for the awards. But under this option we’ll need to move the member meeting close to the Hill, but will still likely conflict with some appointments that Sharon/Tom have on the Hill.

  3. Member meeting Sept. 27; awards evening  of Sept. 27th.
With this option we can get a space for awards at Rayburn House office building for the awards, but does not present as much of a conflict with COABE as above — tho still not probably great for them as they are probably already booked to fly in late that day.

  4. Member meeting Sept. 22; awards evening of Sept. 22nd.
We don’t know yet whether we can get space for awards “on campus” but we are checking. For the purpose of this ranking, assume for now that we can.

Once again, appreciate your patience. If everyone could get back to me today, that would be best, although I am away on a mini-vacation starting as soon as I can get away today(!) I promised I would be done at 1pm at the latest. I’ll be back in from of a computer Sunday.

Thanks very much,

Jeff

Jeff, options #3 (first) and #2 (second) would be my preferences. I don’t think it's a good idea to move it up a week for those who have already scheduled this time and/or booked flights. We can work around COABE's events as much as possible. But I agree that it's important to be on the hill for our awards.

A second thought on this: We need to choose the option(s) that are possible for Rep. Hinojosa if we can.

Jeff
