Well, not really, but so seldom might as well call it that. There we were,
against the current, clawing our way along the Cumberland River. In the
distance we could see a tow coming, looking like we'd meet in a 'tight'
bend, shoals on both sides. No problem, he needed 20-30 feet of width, us
only 12. Then, as we closed, one short blast was heard.
Replied with the same... eased to stbd, and passed port to port with a big
wave from none other but "HAMMER", the Coast Guard work tug and barge
stationed out of Charleston. And here I've thinking that whistle signals
were just not done anymore. Just love the Coast Guard!
