Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsBroad band radar is great for close in work, but not so great for long
distance. It has much higher discrimination of targets, particularly at
closer range. If I had my druthers I would have both pulse radar
(traditional radar) and broadband on board. Don't have it yet, but all I
have read is that it is superior for close range use which is what most
us recreational boaters actually use radar for.

Hi all,
We're into the serious preparation phase of Looping, will be leaving
the
upper Mississippi river this fall. We are wondering if anyone has
had any
real experience with broadband radar. We've read some articles,
but
looking for some pros, cons etc before we decide since it is such a
new
technology.
