All diesel engine oils classification (which is on the container)
will have a "C" rating (for example CJ, or CH, etc) as this rating stand
for "Compression ignition" which is how diesel engines light-off the
combustion.
All gasoline rated oils will have an "S" rating (for example SI, or
SJ, etc) as this rating stands for "Spark ignition".
All consistent with my understanding.
The last remaining fleet oil I am aware of is Shell Rotella (in the US) /
Rimula (international). The T series are CJ-4 and SM. Other series are
CI-4+ and SM. Multi-grade synthetic and conventional oils and single-grade
conventional oils are available.
I use it in my main engine, generator engine, 4-stroke dinghy, gas
generator at home, my truck and two cars. Periodic oil analysis looks good.

I'm not sure what you mean by "fleet oil" but if you mean heavy duty
diesel oil formulated for fleet use, there are plenty of alternatives to
Shell Rotella. Two that immediately come to mind are Chevron Delo and
Mobil Delvac, but I know that every major lube oil manufacturer has a
fleet product, at least in 15W-40. Shell, Chevron, and Mobil also have
SAE30 and SAE40 monograde. Texaco, Amsoil, Coastal, and others also make
fleet-formulated diesel lube oil.
FWIW, we use Chevron Delo 400 in our main (a Komat'su-based Lugger) and
Mobil Delvac in our genset (a Shibaura-based Northern Lights) and we
have very good test results (we use Polaris Labs) on roughly 400-hour
change intervals.

Many thanks to the people who provided a lot of informations and advice
about Castrol oil for diesel. I know now that I'm due for another oil change
next spring ! For now, I presume it doesn't matter much since the boat is
winterized.
Again, many many thanks !

Valvoline™ Premium Blue™ is endorsed by Cummins. It’s designed to provide
performance and protection in modern, emissions treatment equipped diesel
engines, including those with Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR), Diesel
Particulate Filters (DPF), and other modern diesel engine technology.
Valvoline Premium Blue 8600 ES has been tested extensively by Cummins in
various engine applications.
We've been using it on 250 hour change intervals on our Cummins 5.9B. We
analyze every change, looking for metals and the TBN.
I'd like to see a head to head comparison with Rotella, because I like
their 2.5 gallon jugs and it's easier to find.
