Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsWe are charter members of the America's Great Loop Cruisers' Association
(AGLCA) and have been way before we purchased our boat to do the Great Loop
Cruise. Membership is $23 per year which includes a wealth of information in
a newsletter that goes out 6 times per year. When you complete your cruise
you receive a BaccaLOOPerate Degree. You are also put in touch with people
going to do the cruise and those who have completed it. You are given a
directory of all the members and their "loop history". Eve and Ron Stob,
founders of the organization and authors of the book, "Honey, Lets Get A Boat"
do a fantastic job with keeping "Loopers" and "Wanna Be Loopers" connected.
You can access their website at www.greatloop.com. AGLCA members have
rendezvous and other wonderful boating activities together. We look forward
to meeting these great loopers on the water in the near future. Our cruise
begins this fall from Chattanooga, TN. We greatly appreciate all the
resources and willing people that have given us support for this fantastic
journey including this web site, Trawler Fest, Trawler Port, Trawler World,
Passage Maker magazine, Boat US, West Marine, the Fort Macon Sail and Power
Squadron, Skipper Bob, Claiborne Young and all the other boating folks and
resources too numerous to name. We feel very blessed that all this has been
available to us to keep us safe and knowledgeable while on the water.
