How about an explanation of what we are looking at? The stabilizer shape is
fascinating and there seems to be a big vertical slide into which the strut
fits, but what propels the stabilizer - if anything?

Hi,
Looking at the photographs I'd imagine that the fins are paravanes acting as
passive stabilizers. It may work well but I'd worry about twisting force on
the supporting strut. The strut would be used for raising and lowering
them. For docking I'd imagine that they'd be folded up against the hull.
Not something I can see many recreational boats rushing to have installed
but on a work boat, why not.
