VASS WEEK 12 - FINAL WEEK!
Visiting Artist Summer Series Closes with Ron Desmett
Through Sunday, September 5
Presented in partnership with Pilchuck Glass School
http://museumofglass.createsend1.com/t/y/l/mkjdjl/kdtyjdkk/j Ron Desmett http://museumofglass.createsend1.com/t/y/l/mkjdjl/kdtyjdkk/t has been working with glass for over three decades. He and his partner Kathleen Mulcahy http://museumofglass.createsend1.com/t/y/l/mkjdjl/kdtyjdkk/i were instrumental in the devlopment of the Pittsburgh Glass Center, http://museumofglass.createsend1.com/t/y/l/mkjdjl/kdtyjdkk/d an internationally recognized public access glass institution, where they remain a vital part of the Artistic Leadership Team. Ron's current body of work is inspired by nature's landscape. He uses hollowed out walnut trees to create molds for his black glass sculptures, "infusing nature that has lost its life with life anew."
While at MOG, Ron hopes to "take a step back and look at the process of glassblowing" by allowing the Hot Shop Team http://museumofglass.createsend1.com/t/y/l/mkjdjl/kdtyjdkk/h to "do the heavy lifting." He has brought a number of his molds with him and wants to experiment with different color combinations other than black and gain a new viewpoint for future directions.
Stop by this week and see artistic experimentation in action! Or, as always, you can watch the Hot Shop live via our streaming video http://museumofglass.createsend1.com/t/y/l/mkjdjl/kdtyjdkk/k .
